Support Group

The Powell River BCSS Support Group meets the second Tuesday of each month7:00 PM to 8:30pm at the Source Club (4476 Cumberland Street).

Family support groups give families and friends the opportunity to share fears, insecurities, successes, approaches to problems, and to reinforce good and appropriate coping skills for dealing with a loved one with mental illness.  Families know that they are not alone.

Family support groups are structured with a clear set of guidelines to encourage full group participation in meetings that are constructive, effective and positive.

Families that have a loved one with a diagnosis of schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, OCD or panic/anxiety disorders are welcomed and encouraged to attend.

For more information, contact the BCSS Regional Coordinator, Danita Senf at dsenf@bcss.org or 604-485-8266.

Branch Meetings

The Powell River Branch meets the third Tuesday of January, March, May, September, and November.

Branch meetings provide an opportunity for family members to learn what is going on in the province, the country and the community regarding mental health services.  Guest speakers are often invited to attend branch meetings.

Please contact Danita Senf at dsenf@bcss.org or 604-485-8266 if you have questions about the next Branch meeting, and where it will be held.
